"Macho Man" Randy Savage Vs Kurasawa (W/Col. Parker)

Savage's arm is injured. Savage gets his ass kicked most of the match, but wins in the end with the flying elbow drop out of nowhere. Most of the match consisted of Kurasawa working on Savage's arm and beating him up. That being said, it also told the story of the wily veteran getting it done when it counts.

The Master of the Dungeon of Doom (King Curtis) rambles on about a bunch of gibberish of an insurance package helping out the Dungeon of Doom at Halloween Havoc. It turns out it's The Yeti, who is being preserved in a giant iceberg until Halloween Havoc. The Giant and Kevin Sullivan claim it's all over for Hogan at Halloween Havoc. This segment was more surreal than it sounds. Sure, Nitro may have been a better alternative to Raw at this juncture, but with bizarre segments like this, that's not saying much

Hulk Hogan comes out, dressed in black again for an interview with Gene Okerlund. He says he might just keep the black attire after he's done with The Giant at Halloween Havoc. He says he's gonna drag The Giant on the back of his Harley all over the place. He says Sting, Randy Savage & Lex Luger left him for dead and are not his friends. He says after Halloween Havoc, he'll beat them all one by one. They were trying to make Hogan more appealing and edgier as a face. It worked to a certain extent, but people were still tired of Hogan and it ultimately lead to his heel turn in the summer of 96.

Chris Beniot & Dean Malenko Vs Eddie Guerrero & Mr. J.L. (W/Alex Wright)

Alex Wright is on crutches and can't compete, so Mr. J.L. is taking his place. J.L. is Jerry Lynn. The team of Guerrero and J.L. wins, thanks to interference from Alex Wright. Everyone got a chance to showcase their stuff and they delivered. There were a few big spots, especially from Eddie, who stole the show in this match. If you like your wrestling fast and furious, you'll enjoy this one.

***

Brian Pillman comes out and assaults Eddie Guerrero while he's on his way to the back.

Sting & Lex Luger Vs Harlem Heat (W/Sister Sherri)

Sting and Luger win when Sting pins Stevie Ray with a clothesline from the top. I was pretty bored during this match, to be honest. It didn't help that I had no interest in this match to begin with.

*1/2

The Giant comes down and chokeslams Sting and Luger after the match. Randy Savage comes out, as well as Hulk Hogan. Hogan and The Giant brawl in the ring until the entire Dungeon of Doom comes out and mayhem ensues. The Yeti breaks out of the iceberg just as Nitro is going off the air to give us a cliffhanger. It was a good way to get people to tune into Halloween Havoc. It was exciting and the crowd was electric for the Hogan and The Giant showdown. Hogan getting the upper hand on The Giant didn't damage him. All the positives aside, The Yeti thing was absolutely stupid and The Dungeon of Doom storyline is completely hokey.

Final Thoughts

Despite that this episode gave us a fun tag team match, the matches weren't the story here, it was all about storyline progression. Hogan's edgier character is admittedly interesting and they teased dissension between Hogan, Savage, Sting, and Luger. I saw Halloween Havoc 95 when I was young and don't really remember it all that well. I'm actually semi-excited to watch Halloween Havoc since they did an above average job of building it up. If you have the WWE Network, this one is worth a look.
