All Hail, Randy Savage!
22 March 2016 | by (victoria b.c canada) – See all my reviews

Live from Las Vegas, NV; Caesar's Palace

Your hosts are Eric Bischoff, Steve McMichael & Bobby Heenan

Konnan randomly appears on set. He's apparently the Mexican Heavyweight champion, and he's gonna destroy Psicosis.

Madusa, Woman, and some other gorgeous ladies accompany Randy Savage to ringside. Hulk Hogan follows Macho Man out. Hulk says because Macho is his "best friend" , he wants the first crack at the title when Macho Man wins it tonight.

WCW Heavyweight Championship

Ric Flair (C) (W/Jimmy Hart) Vs Randy Savage

Flair tries to flirt with Woman before the match, but ends up getting slapped in the face by her. Arn Anderson tries to hit Randy Savage with brass knuckles, but he ends up hitting Flair with them instead. Hogan comes out and evens the odds by battling with The Horsemen on the outside. Savage hits the flying elbow drop from up top and becomes a two-time WCW Champion. Okay, I'm not gonna lie. Savage winning the title here popped me. Not just because I'm a Savage fan, but because it was well done. Flair and Savage rarely ever have a bad match.

Randy Savage tells Hogan to stop celebrating like he won the title because he's embarrassing himself. Hogan congratulates Savage, but says he wants a title shot against Savage after he beats the One Man Gang tonight. Savage says he wants to face Hogan for the title right here tonight. Hogan says he's gonna do his best to get the shot here tonight and asks Savage to watch his back against One Man Gang. Savage says if Hogan beats him, he'll shake Hogan's hand. If Savage wins, Hogan's gotta shake his hand.

Thoughts: As I've stated before, this version of The Mega Powers kinda stinks.

Dean Malenko Vs Brian Pillman

Pillman wins in tainted fashion after pinning Malenko when his (Malenko) foot was caught in the ropes. I'd love to see what these two can with more time given to them. What we got was fairly entertaining.

Tag Team Championship

Harlem Heat (C) Vs Sting & Lex Luger

Sting and Luger win the titles after Luger drills Booker T with a handful of silver dollars given to him by Jimmy Hart. This is one of the most anti-climatic title switches I've ever seen. Granted, it's to continue the story of Luger and Sting, but it still sucked.

Hulk Hogan Vs The One Man Gang

Hogan virtually demolishes One Man Gang and pins him with a legdrop. One Man Gang didn't get much offense in. It's kind of unbelievable to have OMG be demolished like that. It just goes to show you how Hogan's ego was out of control at this juncture.

After the match, The Four Horsemen and The Dungeon of Doom attack Hogan, but Randy Savage runs out and makes the save. Hulk Hogan and Savage gloat about their secret weapons in Kevin Greene & Miss Elizabeth at the Clash.

Aside from Macho Man's title win, this episode is really nothing to write home about. I find a lot of the early Nitro's to be repetitive and all over the place. In my opinion, it did nothing to make people wanna watch Clash of The Champions.
