Storyline

It's night; crickets chirp outside an isolated farmhouse. A bright light from a spacecraft shines through a bedroom window and lifts a sleeping man. However, the light and the small alien controlling it from the ship are unable to pull the man through the window: first it's the glass that impedes them. The alien frets; its supervisor - large, laconic, and green - watches. As the human keeps sleeping, the alien's tries every lever. Just as it looks as if the alien abduction will succeed, something goes wrong. The supervisor steps in. Written by <jhailey@hotmail.com>

Wonderful Pixar short film
31 January 2012 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

I may not quite think that Lifted is among Pixar's very best short films, but it is one of their more interesting ones and was five minutes well spent. The animation as always is stunning, it is a darker style than I usually see but there is a certain atmosphere to it that I love. The music is memorable, and the sound effects are fantastic, some of the best sound effects for any Pixar short film I'd say. The first moments or so are quite dark and tense, but the rest is very funny indeed, while the story even if simple is full of heart and the characters are typically great with a very endearing sense about them. Overall, not quite my favourite from Pixar, but wonderful all the same. 9/10 Bethany Cox
