harrowing but amazingly done
25 January 2007 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

this was an amazingly powerful insight into the complications of rape claims. all police, court personnel and jury were real people, to make the court case seem as real as possible and also to show a real outcome. the comments of some of the jury are horrific, the way people judge the woman making the accusations leaves you in no wonder over why so many women neglect to report rape. both actors are extremely convincing, as clearly many of the scenes are improvised, especially when in contact with the real people such as when the accused man is arrested. what is interesting to see is that from the jury, more men stand up for the woman than the female jurors. the greatest part of this drama is the ending; the delayed revelation of what actually happened allows you as an audience member to make up your own mind also, instead of being able to judge either party. the most harrowing part is the realisation of the complications involved with rape claims and the line between the interpretation of consent. touching stuff!
