Ned Stark, Lord of Winterfell, becomes the Hand of the King after the former Hand, Jon Arryn, has passed away. But before Ned goes to the capital, King's Landing, a letter arrives from his wife's sister Lysa, who was the wife of Jon Arryn. There it says that her husband was murdered, and it is up to Ned to find out what's going on. But that isn't everything. The White Walkers have been seen, and they seem to go down south
Did You Know?
The Game of Thrones title sequence introduces every episode and changes depending on the locations visited in that particular episode. One anomaly is that of Castle Black, which despite never being shown throughout Season 2 is still featured in the title sequences. As of Season 5, no locations north of The Wall have been featured. Winter is coming.
The opening pictures on the revolving metal rings show part of the history of Westeros. It begins with the conquest of Westeros by Aegon the Conqueror of House Targaryen, followed by Robert's Rebellion (where the Targaryens are deposed), and ending with the crowning of Robert Baratheon as King of the Seven Kingdoms.
