Storyline

Dale is cheated out of his contractual percentage, but the mayor has other priorities, so his gun does the convincing. April Green's own pregnancy is now very problematic; plastic surgeon Kenchy Dhuwalia is unwilling to operate in primitive conditions, tries but the generator diesel runs out, the baby is lost, April dying. The neighboring Newbern mayor who can supply windmills demands more salt and a bigger share of the next spring crop for it then Jericho can spare, but the people don't know the Marines' promises were bogus; Stanley suggests to promise now and decide later whether to pay; ten Jericho men must go help build them, de facto also hostages, including Stanley and Eric. Interesting but not a great episode.
23 January 2008 | by (Winnipeg) – See all my reviews

Series have formulas. Quick answers, condense stories, and a hook for next week's show. Jericho does not follow all the plot devices of television. The character of April dies giving birth ending the affair soap opera show subplot. (A quick answer and even quicker story) I find April's death is a device which ends a subplot that slowed down Jericho's fast story line. When one character dies (April) then another rises (Hawken's). The death of Hawken's co-worker is a question. Is Hawken's a terrorist or savior? The hook for next week's show. Jericho and the other town demands more? No quick answers. A slower episode which asks question, but a important episode which is a turning point for future events. 6 out of 10. Jericos story climax will be good.
