The Film Eye Museum in the Netherlands recovered this Italian Silent film which is not in its entirety (about 29 minutes survive) but what is there indicates that it was a film of great quality. It is a standard melodrama but it is beautifully told, well acted for its time and with some beautiful lighting (light coming into a room from outside is used effectively).
The director is a Frenchman called Vincent Denizot who moved to Italy to work and was known as Vincenzo Denizot. Based on this film, he deserves more attention. I hope more of the film is recovered so we can see the whole thing.
