Murderous fugitive Ellis Colton is wounded during a bank robbery and narrowly manages to escape. He abandons his car and hides in John Alvin's barn, but Alvin becomes aware of his presence. He subsequently learns that a $10,000 reward is offered for Colton's capture. Despite the advice of Dan Mathews, Alvin foolishly enlists fellow farmers George Bailey and Vance Wells to attempt to capture Colton and collect the reward. The attempt is unsuccessful and Wells is seriously wounded. Dan and Officer Dennis learn what has happened from Edna Alvin and Dan enters the barn, ultimately finding himself in a fistfight with Colton. Dan prevails, and Edna is pleasantly surprised when she learns the details of the reward offer. Written by
