The Songs of 'Flower Drum Song' was another very enjoyable extra on the Flower Drum Song DVD
This extra on the Flower Drum Song DVD discusses the songs by Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II used in the Broadway and movie version. I was particularly interested in the anecdote about the way various dances were used for the "Chop Suey" number and Patrick Adiarte-who's Filipino by way of Manila-telling the story of how his dance part in "Chop Suey" was expanded and then led to get his own number for "The Other Generation". There was also the interesting anecdote about Oscar Hammerstein originally naming "Love Look Away", "My Arms Having No Use"! Also, Nancy Kwan discusses how she had to film "I Enjoy Being a Girl" twice because of a fly appearing on the camera lens for the first take! So this was a real enjoyable extra on the FDS disc.
