Senior Sergeant Mark Field is determined to make Donna's job difficult. Meanwhile, Dean and his gang, tired of hitting small jobs, plan their riskiest ram-raid yet and strike a loaded ATM just yards from a police station.
Craig Lukevic, the dangerous crime gang-lord, closes in on Dean and the gang for stealing his car and strikes out at EC injuring her hand. Dean tries to make amends, but Craig recruits him for a job. Donna takes part in the gang's high-risk ram-raid and later seals her relationship with Dean.
The gang discover the dead body of one of Craig's known associates in the back of one of Craig's fish delivery vans that Craig has roped the gang into doing. As the gang dispose of the van they are spotted by the water police and they run to Craig's home. Dean asked to be released from Craig's clutches but he refuses. Senior Sergeant Mark Field shows Donna the security footage of the ram-raid she participated in. Later, when trying to dispose of a stolen car EC is chased by the police and she loses control of the car and dies after being thrown through the windscreen.
Dean stays with Donna in her eastern suburbs world, both of them wondering if their relationship could have a future. Their time together is halted when Craig issues Dean a brutal new directive to kill a man. Dean believes that getting himself locked up in prison will get him away from Craig but he hasn't bargained with Craig's power over the police department who tells Mark Field to release Dean immediately.
Dean is shaken when he finds out from Craig the identity of the man he's supposed to carry out a hit on - Senior Sergeant Mark Field - and so makes plans to flee the city with Donna. But his plans are found out and he has no choice but to go ahead with the hit.
