In addition to ordering the DC Comics adaptation Constantine to series, as well as a couple of other pick-ups a few days ago, NBC has also committed to one new comedy and one new drama. Briefly: The comedy series A to Z, from executive producers Rashida Jones and Will McCormack (Celeste and Jesse Forever), has been given a series commitment. The show stars How I Met Your Mother’s “Mother” Cristin Milioti and Mad Men actor Ben Feldman and takes place in the world of an online dating company. On the drama side, the Debra Messing-fronted The Mysteries of Laura will debut on NBC’s schedule. Based on the Spanish series Los Misterios, the story follows a female homicide detective. 'The Firm' star will appear as Jake, the male lead of the drama where he will play the role of a clever cop with keen instincts who winds up being captain in the same precinct as his soon-to-be ex-wife, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The role brings the American actor back to NBC after his starring turn in Nb''s short-lived follow-up to 'The Firm'.

NBC's adaptation of DC Comics' Constantine is moving forward, along with a procedural from Arrow's Greg Berlanti, with the network handing out pilot orders to both dramas. Drama Constantine hails from DaVinci's Demons showrunner David S. Goyer, who will executive produce alongside The Mentalist Ep Daniel Cerone, who penned the script of the Warner Bros. Television entry and will serve as showrunner should it move forward. NBC first picked up the drama with a script plus penalty commitment in September.
