Where's The Party?
ShadeGrenade17 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
The postman is flummoxed by mail addressed to the same person but for different houses. George explains that his newly divorced wife is living next door. The postman walks off, laughing.

George decides to throw a house warming party, as does Suzy. They invite all their friends. But, on discovering George and Suzy's close proximity, they worry that they might offend them by attending each other's parties, so they cancel, citing prior engagements as an excuse.

The big night arrives, and absolutely no-one turns up at either of the Bassetts' cottages. George and Suzy play music, clink glasses, and talk loudly in an effort to convince the other that a wild party is underway...

A good second episode. We find out that the Bassetts have lived apart for two years. Among the 'friends' are Gaye Brown ( who was in the 'On The Buses' episode 'The Canteen Girl' ), Sheila Dunn ( a.k.a. 'Dr.Petra Williams' from the 'Dr.Who' classic 'Inferno' ), and Jan Butlin ( later to pen the sitcoms 'Life Begins At Forty' and 'That Beryl Marston...!' ). John Leeson, who voiced 'K9' in 'Dr.Who' appears briefly as a neighbour.

Funniest moment - Suzy gets call after call from people who have suddenly found that they cannot attend the party after all. When Stanley ( Keith Smith ) calls, he only has to say his name before she snaps at him: "Why can't you come?".
