***SPOILERS*** Private investigator Mike Barnett is hired by Philip Soukon to track down $185,000.00 in missing furs, minks & sables, stolen from right out of his cold storage vault by Johnny Sacks and Tony Labombo while he was out watching a vaudeville strip show. Johnny & Tony are planning to sell them to anyone man or woman on the Lower East Side or pushcart district in Manhattan who can come up with the money, all in cash, that they want for them for as much or little as 1/4 of their value.

It's Barnett with the help of the NYPD who get a jump on Johnny's boys by having them surrounded at the fur storage wear-house where their planning to pull off their plan and find a street corner to sell the furs to the highest bidders. Barnett gets himself caught before he can contact the police and is held hostage by Tony who now plans to off him which a scared, in being involved in Barnett's murder, Johhny gets cold feet and wants to call the whole operation off.

***SPOILERS*** As Barnett's captors are debating just what to do with him he escapes and from the roof-top alerts the police to what's happening which has them storm the building and arrest the gang before they do any more damage to themselves or anyone else. It was young Philip Soukon by leaving the combination to the cold storage safe right in the open, taped under a draw, for Johnny's girlfriend and Philip's secretary Miss Mangram to find all this wouldn't have happened. By Barnett and the NYPD getting the furs back not only saved Philip's dad $185,000.00 but save Philip for getting his a** whooped by his dad for being the absent minded jerk that he is!
