Let down by a poor marketing strategy and repetitive gameplay.

I'd like to start this off by proving my networth by saying Jade is hot.

Anyways, onto the game itself. I don't see why people are having an orgasm over this game. I played the PC version of it, and basically the game seemed to be, at least to me, holding down the right mouse button while holding spacebar. This took care of running, and climbing over any object. In combat, all you have to do is hold right mouse button, and then left click when someone attacks. You've just beaten the game.

The pre-assassination missions are repetitive and boring. You pick-pocket, kill some guards, grab some flags, beat someone up, or run to another agent. Thankfully you only have to do 3 of these.

Another complaint I had was the "free-roaming" which wasn't always free. It always impressed me that I could see a chapel in the distance, only to be blocked by a wall of black fog.

Story-wise, it tells itself mainly through minor banter and emails. You can take yourself through the whole game without reading the emails, which I would recommend. I do this because it keeps you from finding out enough to be mangry as balls at the ending.

Gameplay can be clunky, it's nice to finish saving a civilian while guards run up wondering what's wrong only to have your camera fixed on the vigilantes for the 1000000 time causing the guards to engage you. Which leads me on to my next point, losing guards. Apparently there's only 4 ways to lose guards; hay, benches, stoic scholars, and roof gardens. All the guards have a radio, which alerts guards in new areas to your presence, so don't think you can lose them in crowds.

Overall the game looks nice, and plays smooth, the story is under-driven and weak, Sound is good (apart from the repetitive talking of the revolution talkers, and Altair's terrible emotionless voice which sweats brooding hero speak), Gameplay and camera controls are average, with their share of clunky bits, and there's no reason at all to play the game again.

I gave it a 5/10 because it wanted to be thief, but failed so desperately. If you're looking for stealth, this game doesn't have it, there's no stealth AT ALL, Free-roaming is strangled, a galloping horse is a crime against humanity, and lepers can beat the tar out of you.

Grab Thief 2: Deadly Shadows if you want immersive stealth/assassination.

Skip this one, you won't be sad.
