Dan Taylor wins a good deal of money on the football pools, aware that he has money, criminals kidnap his daughters Joy and Helen, and demand a hefty ransom payment, Maguire unexpectedly gets himself involved on the case.
A good story this one, I enjoyed the case, a pretty decent attempt at a good old fashioned swindle. It's a well balanced, well paced episode, with a pretty exciting ending.
I love the way that Maguire assumes control of the case, he really is a headstrong and blinkered chap, he simply doesn't hear the word no, the quintessential bull in a china shop. Maguire as always is several steps ahead of everyone else.
One thing I've just thought of, I'm not sure why, but Maguire doesn't seem to have had many murders to deal with, more often than not it's a blackmail or a robbery.
There are some glorious location shots to enjoy, some wonderful shots of Brighton, one thing you realise is that the place hasn't changed a whole lot.
Enjoyed this one.
7/10.
