An annual event, the Norwegian presentation of the Nobel Peace Prize Concert is a both stylish and meaningful show offering a lavish and smiling celebration of the Nobel laureate as well as of the musical performers on stage. The 2006 event, honouring Muhammad Yunus for his loan programme to fight poverty in third-world countries, featured performances from international artists such as Renée Fleming, John Legend, Simply Red, Yusuf Islam and, most spectacularly, Lionel Richie in a smashing finale.
Hosted by actresses Anjelica Huston and a slightly over-eager Sharon Stone, the show is recommended for its musical quality as well as its cheerful spirit, delivered not least by the well-chosen words of the laureate himself.
