S4C has a reputation for not making the highest quality programmes, but this drama series is exceptional.
A sumptuous period melodrama, a fine cast acts a well-written script. The drama might be too melo- for some, and it is at times rather slow moving, but the story at its core is a moving one, with a wide-range of characters within the stuffy social setting.
Mark Lewis Jones, who recently appeared in the BBC's Doctor Who spin-off, Torchwood, stands out with a magnificent, subtle and emotionally-involving performance as one of the central characters.
I hope that this drama will receive a DVD release, so that it may be seen by a wider audience than S4C usual viewers. Highly recommended.
