‘UnReal’ Adds New Exec Producer to Season 2; Marti Noxon to Remain Showrunner

4 September 2015 11:45 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Lifetime’s “UnReal” has added Carol Barbee as an exec producer to its sophomore season, Variety has learned.

The “Touch” and “Hawaii Five-0” alum joins co-creator Marti Noxon who will continue to serve as exec producer and showrunner for season two.

Co-creator Sarah Gertrude Shapiro has been elevated to exec producer, alongside former co-exec producer Stacy Rukeyser who was also upped to Ep for the second season, which returns in 2016 with 10 new episodes. Robert M. Sertner and Sally DeSipio will return, as well, continuing on as exec producers.

The addition of Barbee and the elevated exec producing team will without a doubt help support Noxon’s work on the critically-acclaimed hit show, as she’s one the most in-demand showrunners, as of late.

Noxon will continue as showrunner on Season 2 of Bravo’s “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce,” which she created, and will exec produce CBS’ upcoming medical drama “Code Black. »

New Trailer For The Keeping Room Reveals A Female Reinvention Of The Western

14 August 2015 4:39 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

‘Point of view’ in cinematic storytelling is at the crux of the entire issue of equality and sexism in film. Its influence on popular culture – and, in turn, society as a whole – is routinely underestimated. The fact is that the majority of the narratives we watch on our screens are told from the point of view of white men – making their experience the ‘norm,’ and everything else marginal. This creates a skewed cultural perspective, and leads to a situation that reinforces a pervasive sense of entitlement – if your perspective were the only one regularly represented in the media, you would unconsciously assume it was the most important, too. This is why The Keeping Room is a vital film.

In reality, the perspective of white men is, of course, no more important than any other perspective – particularly considering that that point of view is actually in the minority in global terms. »
