Originally conceived as an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987), this story was set to introduce gay characters to the "Star Trek" universe for the first time, something Gene Roddenberry had insisted upon. However, after Roddenberry's death, the script was pulled from production, prompting David Gerrold to quit the series. Years later, with the production of this web series, the producers approached Gerrold about reviving the story. Gerrold agreed, and adapted the script to include the "New Voyages" characters, and even directed the two-part story himself.
This episode pays special tribute to late Majel Barrett Roddenberry who died in 2008,soon before this episode was released. She is best known as Lwxanna Troi, Deanna's mother on Star Trek:The Next Generation, a computer voice & as Gene's widow of course.
Includes the very first gay kiss ever on Star Trek (ensgn. Peter Kirk & lt. Alex Freeman).
