THUNDERBALL may well be "the most successful Bond film . . . "
8 June 2014 | by (Jacksonville, FL) – See all my reviews

" . . . of the Sixties," as narrator Patrick Macnee intones here, but this behind-the-scenes piece is NOT the most accomplished Bond retrospective of the Nineties. The people at the production company behind the majority of the Bond films sometimes are a lazy bunch, and INSIDE THUNDERBALL, a.k.a. THE SECRET HISTORY OF THUNDERBALL (its original title when released in 1995) is a good example of this shooting-fish-in-a-barrel approach to Bond DVD customers. The four minutes running time of this fairly uninformative video segment may have sufficed to please the unsophisticated TV viewer or VHS tape collector in the Nineteen Hundreds, but it is not close to the standard set by the later, half-hour-plus INSIDE BOND documentaries done when DVD capacity broadened both the capability and demand for extended "Making of" offerings. To simply try to foist off this "throwaway" footage as somehow being part of a much later and greater series is akin to attempting to sell a seventh STAR WARS movie.
