• Rand : Hey, what's the problem?

  Scott Bernard : Uh... Well, I probably forgot to bring this up, but I don't know how to swim. I've lived mostly in space, you know.

  Rand : [laughing]  Huh? I forgot you haven't been here very long. I'd better teach you. Come on, follow me.

  Scott Bernard : Huh? Wait! I...

  [He drops beneath the surface of the water and comes up, sputtering] 

  Rand : No, no, Scott, you're doing it all wrong! The first thing you gotta learn is never try to breathe underwater. It's bad for the lungs. Now hold your breath, 'cause the second thing is to watch out for the waves!

  [a wave comes in over Scott] 

  Rand : That's it, Scott! Hang in there, buddy! Don't let those waves beat ya!

  [laughing] 

  Rand : Well, it looks to me like you've got the arm movements down pretty good. Later on, I'll teach you how to kick.
