- When Pokes, the butler in the Spookem home, sees Jabbs, a young man about town, making love Ethel, the daughter of the household, his jealousy knows no bounds. He plans revenge by putting the family silver in Jabbs' pocket where Spookem is bound to see it. Spookem, enraged, orders Jabbs to leave the house. Pokes' happiness at the success of his little scheme is short-lived, for soon he comes face to face with Ruge, formerly a cellmate in the penitentiary. Ruge has been discharged by Spookem, and has come to the house to blow up Spookem and his family. Through fear that Ruge will betray him to his master, Pokes is forced to carry the bomb into the house, but later hurls it back at Ruge, who is blown into the river. Jabbs sends a box of candy to Ethel, but as it is similar in shape to Ruge's bomb, Pokes is almost frantic with fear. In terror he notifies the entire household, who look in deadly fright at the queer-acting "bomb." The "bomb" seems possessed of spirits, moving here and there about the house, until Jabbs returns and explains the mystery to the discomfort of Pokes.—Moving Picture World synopsis
