The one where Jack works for Kenneth
9 October 2008 | by (Italy) – See all my reviews

Any episode of 30 Rock that allows Jack McBrayer to have a more prominent presence is always welcome. The Head and the Hair is such a show, having one of the program's smartest premises.

You see, there's a "Bottoms-Up" thing that's part of Jack's job: for one day, he'll be the NBC page, and Kenneth will get to boss him around as much as he likes. As Jack realizes he might have made a mistake, more hilarity ensues when Tracy remembers his autobiography is due in a few days and enlists the help of two writers. And as for the incident that inspired the episode's title, that would have to do with Liz and Jenna running into two cute guys whose names they don't know, therefore they are simply referred to as "the Head" and "the Hair".

Three utterly silly story lines (plus the game show gag in the last sequence), three comedic goldmines: Liz and Jenna - the usual must-see double act; Tracy - artful craziness; Jack and Kenneth - unadulterated genius, especially when the real page explains that "more than jazz, or musical theater, or morbid obesity, television is the true American art-form". Amen to that.
