Toronto Film Festival 2012: Walter Salles Working on New On The Road Cut

On the Road movie reedited for Toronto screening Based on Jack Kerouac's '50s novel, Walter Salles' Otr adaptation starring Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, and Kristen Stewart (above photo) will be screened at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival. We all knew that. What we didn't know is that Tiff 2012 will unveil a new cut of the film (via indieWIRE), which premiered last spring at the Cannes Film Festival to mixed reviews. The 2hr20m drama has been downsized to approximately 125 minutes. That's an interesting development, as Otr has already been screened in several countries, with varying degrees of box-office success. [Check out the On the Road trailer. Check out Kristen Stewart On the Road poster; Garrett Hedlund On the Road poster.] Otr movie reedit hardly unique On the other hand, different cuts shown in different countries is hardly something new. Whether as a result of poor critical/box-office reception, (perceived) local sensibilities, and/or censorship, the movie you watch in, say, Canada isn't necessarily the exact same movie watched by someone in Singapore,

False Advertising: Poster for Love & Distrust “Starring” Robert Pattinson, Robert Downey Jr., and Sam Worthington

While Steve was busy snapping photos at the American Film Market (Afm), he grabbed a shot of a surprising poster for Love & Distrust. The film boasted a star-studded cast featuring Robert Pattinson, Robert Downey Jr., Sam Worthington, Amy Adams, and James Franco. Somehow, we had never reported on or even heard of this movie. Of course, there was the standard note in the corner about “Credits Not Contractual”. They may not be contractual, but they can certainly be misleading. Hit the jump to check out the poster, and to learn why you’ve probably never heard of this movie and why buyers should beware.

After doing a bit of research, I discovered that Love & Distrust is already available to own on DVD in UK. Here’s the official synopsis:

Featuring a host of Hollywood A-listers, including Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga, Remember Me), Sam Worthington (Avatar, Clash of the Titans), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man,

By Kim Palacios

Robert Pattinson’s 2008 short film, “The Summer House” dominated iTunes immediately following its recent release, topping movie sales charts in the U.S., Canada, Ireland, and Germany after a mere four hours. The July 13th iTunes release marked the first occasion on which the film had been distributed for mass consumption, having only been run on the festival circuit during the prior year.
