Trivia

The boat chase was not originally intended to be part of the opening sequence but test audiences indicated that the jump out of the window opener was not exciting enough. As such, the boat chase was brought forward and had to be shortened. As it is now, the Bilbao - Mi6 HQ - Boat Chase opener is still the longest pre-credits sequence ever in a James Bond movie. No thanks for all the fish . . .
29 November 2014 | by (The Gutters of Baltimore) – See all my reviews

. . . wasted so that Pierce Brosnan could mangle them with his jet engine-powered mini-boat playing James Bond in THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH. Art director Simon Lamont says here that 1,000 pounds of fish (enough to feed a regiment of Marines) were sacrificed to grease Agent 007's skids as he scoots through the marketplace in the film's opening chase sequence. But can Bond's "license to kill" double as a fishing license? I think not. In a world where people such as Karen Carpenter and Keira Knightley appear to be emulating Bobby Sands in the annals of starvation fatalities daily, I say every fish counts! How will they ever make DOLPHIN TALE 3, if James Bond is allowed to dash Hope to get his jollies?!
