Garrison's Landing, a home for retired seamen, has burned to the ground leaving 30 homeless. Captain Gregg (Edward Mulhare) wants to quickly find them a home, suggesting Claymore's (Charles Nelson Reilly) empty warehouse. Mrs. Muir (Hope Lange) goes to the town council meeting to raise the issue. Claymore quickly consents in fear of the Captain, but says it will take $2,000 to restore it. Deke (Mason Curry) suggests raising the money through a fundraising dinner. It is decided to bring in professional entertainment to sell more tickets for the dinner. Mrs. Muir unsuccessfully goes to promoter Monte Marcus (Ben Lessy, "Make Room for Daddy") who requires more money than they can afford. Now the local townspeople tries to audition their act for Mrs. Muir. Monte Marcus calls Mrs. Muir and says he has arranged for Bob Mason (Bob Williams) and his 22 dogs and other acts to perform for the benefit for free, as Mr. Mason's father spent his last years in a seamen's home. As the night of the benefit nears, a flash flood prevents most of the act coming except Bob Mason and one dog. The rest of the series' cast performs, in what amounts to an episode showcasing their talents.
