Enjoyable, but somewhat disappointing.
Roger_Sterling1 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This year's mania came from Detroit. To recap (heavy spoilers):

Money In The Bank: Arguably the best match of the night. All 8 superstars gave it their all, and Mr. Kennedy emerged as the winner.

Ashley vs. Melina (Women's championship): The shortest match of the night, not half bad. Melina retains her title.

MVP vs. Chris Benoit (United States Championship): A good match with technical maneuvers involved. One of the better matches of the night, Benoit also retains his belt.

Kane vs. The Great Khali: Didn't really expect much out of this one, just 2 big guys going at it. Homage to Wrestlemania III with Kane body slamming Khali, even though Khali ended up winning.

ECW Originals vs. The New Breed: Not bad, but could've been better. The Originals take the win.

The much ballyhooed Battle Of The Billionaires. Vince McMahon's representative, the Intercontinental champion Umaga, took on ECW champion Bobby Lashley, with Stone Cold as the guest referee. Shane McMahon tried to pull a fast one by posing as ref, but it didn't work. McMahon loses his hair. For all the hype, it was half decent.

Undertaker vs. Batista (World Heavyweight Championship): Not bad, it was a relief to see Taker win the world heavyweight championship and stay undefeated for at least 1 more year at Wrestlemania.

Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena (WWE Championship): One of the best matches of the night, HBK made Cena work. Terrible ending, though, with HBK not only losing, but tapping out to the STFU. Shawn deserves better.

Overall 8/10.

Another Quality WrestleMania
carologletree27 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This is yet another strong WrestleMania. It had a solid undercard and two great world title matches. There isn't too much to complain about.

Money In The Bank Ladder Match: Mr. Kennedy vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy vs. CM Punk vs. King Booker vs. Finlay - One of the better MITB matches, in my opinion. It is remembered for the big Jeff Hardy stunt, but there were plenty of other great spots, too. A great way to start the show. Mr. Kennedy wins the briefcase. RATING: ****

Kane vs. The Great Khali - A typical boring big man match, all I can say. Khali wins. RATING: *1/2

United States Championship Match: Chris Benoit (c) vs. MVP - I really liked this match. It was a nice technical contest with MVP holding his own against Benoit. It was also given a good amount of time. Chris Benoit retains with a flying Headbutt. RATING: ***3/4

World Heavyweight Championship Match: Batista (c) vs. The Undertaker - This was an excellent world title match. Taker and Batista have great chemistry, and they put on a powerhouse of a match. This is the first of many great matches between the two. The Undertaker wins the Championship with a Tombstone. RATING: ****

The ECW Originals vs. The New Breed - A throwaway to pass the time, nothing more. The Originals win with RVD's Frogsplash. RATING: **1/2

Hair vs. Hair Match: Bobby Lashley (Trump) vs. Umaga (McMahon) with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin as Special Guest Referee - Like HBK/Vince the previous year, this was an entertainment spectacle, and I enjoyed it. Bobby Lashley wins, and Vince gets his head shaved. AWESOME! RATING: ***1/4

WWE Championship Match: John Cena (c) vs. Shawn Michaels - This was a fantastic main event and the best match on the show. Cena proved he belonged in the ring with Michaels in an amazing contest with many near-falls and memorable moments. Not quite as good as their epic Raw encounter later that month, but pretty close. John Cena retains his Championship with the STF. RATING: ****1/4

A great WrestleMania overall, and one of the most underrated. With a lot of great stuff and only one bad match, wrestling fans should love it.

RATING: B+

One of the best Wrestlemanias yet!!!!!
Tom-AVA3 April 2007
You know, every once in a while you get that one Wrestling event that beats everything you have seen in the past few years. I mean, Wrestlemania 21 was OK, Wrestlemania 22 was just not up to Wrestlemania standards, and then Wrestlemania 23 came along from Ford Field Detroit.

I had my reservations about it. First off, half of the matches on the card did not have good enough build up to them or not a good enough story behind them. However the show was opened with an amazing Money in the Bank match, most notably Jeff Hardys jump off the ladder onto Edge lying on the ladder outside the ring, simply amazing. Khali vs. Kane was everything we expected it to be- rubbish!

Then there was a wildcard match that really surprised me. The US title match between Benoit and MVP was simply brilliant for good technical wrestling and applauds to MVP for one brilliant performance. And then there was the World Heavyweight Championship match. This was another match i did not have high expectations for, generally because i'm not a huge fan of the Undertaker but we all new he was going to win it. However i have never been more glad to be proved wrong. The match was an incredible roller coaster ride. And i really have to hand it to Batista for one hell of a show and watch out for his powerslam through the announcers table. Sadly that will be the last time the Animal holds the title, but you've really gotta give it up for him!

I'll keep my review of the next match short and sweet, ECW originals Vs The New Breed. Again, rubbish!

And then the Battle of the Billionaires. Sadly this match was the one that i was most excited for and didn't quite live up to the hype in my view, but still awesome all the same with a few twists that not even i expected.

The Lumberjill match for the Womens title was great on the eyes but sadly not long enough, but oh well.

Then my biggest surprise of the evening in the Main Event. Yerse i am one of those weird John Cena fans and not even i know why i am, i just like him. Anyway, this match again i didn't feel had enough build up or hype to it even though there was a fairly good story behind it. First off, HBK's entrance was awesome, watch out for it, and John Cena's entrance was simply brilliant. The match itself had me on the edge of my seat cos i really had no idea who was gunna win it, and it was just brilliant, i have never seen Cena and Shawn wrestle so well and this one was truly a matter of heart and wills and who wanted to win it most and i am glad to say that The Champ is still here!

So really overall, one of the best Wrestlemania's in recent memory and you really must look out for the amazing entrance stage and the fireworks and screen effects and light and sound for the entrances, truly spectacular. Really, you have to see this Wrestlemania, simply amazing!

A Spectacular WrestleMania That I Always Loved
morantjavonte4 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
WrestleMania 23 Thoughts

WrestleMania 23 was the 23rd annual WrestleMania that took place on April 5, 2007 at Ford Field in Detroit Michigan. Unique fact about this WrestleMania is that 20 years ago, WrestleMania III took place in Michigan as well (though it was in Pontiac, Michigan). This show at the time was the most brought PPV in wrestling history holding the record for 6 years until WrestleMania 28 surpassed it. The PPV featured stars from Raw Smackdown, and for the first time ECW (which was rebooted as a WWE Brand in the summer of 2006). Both shows featured two big World Title matches as two hot rising stars who were the big babyfaces of their respective brand were defending their belts against two future legends. What made it interesting was that both matches had tremendous build up with no heel turns of a Face vs. Face feud heading up to the PPV. Another feud was dubbed the Billionaire vs. Billionaire as Donald Trump and Vince McMahon had chosen two stars to represent them in a match where the loser would be going out as a bald billionaire.

The Good - Both title matches were as good as expected. Back in this time Cena and Batista were questionable wrestlers but credit to both Undertaker and HBK they made them look really great in the match ups. Shawn Micheals vs. John Cena was the match of the night in my opinion with so many scary bumps that kept the crowd open. Undertaker vs. Batista was excellent as well. I think the chemistry between these 2 going one on one for first time helped them in the future have even better matches. I was surprised at the time this wasn't the main event though. Aside from the title matches Lashlay vs. Umaga with Austin as the Referee was pretty fun too. It was obvious that all the drama around it with interfering and Trump and Vince collision helped boost this match. Seeing Vince get his hair shaved really did put the crowd up in laughs. It's also weird seeing Donald Trump in a storyline on wrestling now in days since he's a controversial person in the country (America) today. Last the Money in the Bank Ladder Match was a phenomenal show opener. It's in my opinion one of the Top 5 Money in the Bank Matches of All Time. So many OMG moments of Stunts never pulled before.

The Meh - The All Grown Up segments were awkward. The Tagline of the show doesn't really other me but the kids portraying young wrestlers felt a little silly. The Card order was a little confusing too. Like Undertaker vs. Batista took place waaay too early. I honestly didn't think that having it back to back with one of the other 2 big matches would have caused a tired crowd. Chris Benoit vs. MVP was a decent match that could have been better

The Bad - Kane vs. Khali is honestly pretty bad. I don't find it an embarrassment of the card but it was certainly a sleeper due to The Great Khali's slow paced movement. Props to Kane for trying and the bodyslam was good. Ashley vs. Melina was the worst thing of the show. It was an abomination as Ashely still needed to work on her skills. She even got a dozen boos for her performance. Sadly this was always the Divas division back in this period.

Overall - I'm gonna be honest, this was one of my first WrestleManias as a kid and Nostalgia just can't go away so it's obvious that to me, this show is far better than what it really is (if that makes sense). Terrific build up, awesome & funny moments, and Great matches puts this show as one of the best WrestleManias of the Ruthless Agression era.

Score - 9 out of 10: Awesome

0 = Terrible : 1 = Bad/Lackluster : 2 = Decent : 3 = Good : 4 = Awesome : 5 = One of the best of all time:

1. Jeff Hardy vs. King Booker vs. Finlay vs. CM Punk vs. Mr. Kennedy vs. Matt Hardy vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge: Money in the Bank (Ladder Match) - 4.5/5

2. Kane vs. The Great Khali - 1/5

3. MVP vs. Chris Benoit: United States Championship - 2.5/5

4. Undertaker vs. Batista: World Heavyweight Championship - 4/5

5. ECW Originals vs. New Breed - 1.5/5

6. Umaga vs. Bobby Lashlay - 3/5

7. Melina vs. Ashley: Women's Championship (LumberJills Match) - 0/5

8. John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels: WWE Championship - 4.5/5

Best Match - Shawn Michaels vs. John Cena

Worst Match - Ashley vs. Melina

Most Memorable Moment - Jeff Hardy's dive off the ladder on to Edge

Top 5 Performers

1. Shawn Michaels

2. Batista

3. Undertaker

4. John Cena

5. Jeff Hardy.

Just watched it today
kliko4001 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I just ordered Wrestlemania 23 today & watched it with my neighbors, & let me tell you, I was not at all disappointed. Undertaker finally winning a championship in 5 years, Cena retaining his title again & Mr. Kennedy being known now as Mr. Money In The Bank.

FIRST MATCH- RANDY ORTON VS. JEFF HARDY VS. KING BOOKER W/ SHARMELL VS. EDGE VS. MATT HARDY VS. MR. KENNEDY VS. CM PUNK VS. FINLAY IN A 8 MAN MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH WINNER GETS TO CHOOSE ANY TIME TO HAVE A TITLE SHOT IN THE NEXT 12 MONTHS What a smashing, shocker way to open up Wrestlemania, an 8 man ladder match. This ladder match had so many sick spots, especially when Jeff Hardy nailed a leg drop off the top off the ladder on Edge who was on a ladder himself. Both men got so hurt, that they were sent to the back by medical people. Mr. Kennedy overcomes the odds, & climbs up & grabs the briefcase, as Mr. Kennedy is known as Mr. Money In The Bank. 6/10

SECOND MATCH- KANE VS. GREAT KHALI I knew this match was going to be bad, but it did pick up the pace a bit. But the shocking highlight in the match was when Kane got his hook, & hit Khali in the groin with it. Then Kane picked up the big giant & body slammed him. But Khali fought back & nailed a big slam for the win. 4/10

THIRD MATCH- CHRIS BENOIT VS. MVP FOR THE WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSIP Lots of great technical wrestling here, also good counters. The match was a bit slow, but there is nothing really to complain about, only if there was more time for these two 2 wrestle. Benoit makes MVP tap out to retain his WWE United STates Championship. 6/10

FOURTH MATCH- BATISTA VS. UNDERTAKER FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP I can't believe that they put this match in the middle of the card, I mean it was supposed to be the main event. But this match was really great & exciting. Props to Undertaker doing a big dive from out of the ring right onto Batista. Undertaker even broke out of the Batista Bomb, while Batista broke out of the Last Ride & Chokeslam. Undertaker finally nails a Tombstone for the win & not only is 15-0 at Wrestlemania, but finally gets to win a championship for the first time in 5 years. Also thank God that Undertaker is the champion, because I cannot stand Batista as being the World Champion. 6/10

FIFTH MATCH- ECW ORIGINALS {ROB VAN DAM, SABU, TOMMY DREAMER & SANDMAN} VS. NEW BREED {ELIJAH BURKE, MATT STRIKER, MARCUS DAR VON & KEVIN THORN W/ ARIEL} IN A 8 MAN TAG TEAM MATCH ECW superstars did pretty well in this match, which came as a surprise to me as ECW originally sucks. Great match in my opinion, but it needed to be a bit longer. But still great match. RVD nails a Five Star Frog Splash on Matt Striker to win. 5/10

SIXTH MATCH- DONALD TRUMP {BOBBY LASHLEY FIGHTING FOR HIM} VS. VINCE MCMAHON {UMAGA W/ ARMANDO ELJANDRO ESTRADA FIGHTING FOR HIM} IN A BILLIONAIRE VS. BILLIONAIRE MATCH SPECIAL GUEST REFEREE: STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN THE BILLIONAIRE WHO'S REPRESENTATIVE LOSES WILL GET HIS HEAD SHAVED BALD Great match, really good. Stone Cold gets knocked down by Umaga, which leads to Vince & Shane McMahon to interfere as Shane nails a Van Dam Terminator on Lashley, then reveals that Shane is a referee. Just when Shane is about to count Lashley to 3, Stone Cold knocks him out. Stunners Umaga which leads to Lashley nailing him with a Spear for the win as Vince Mcmahon will get his head shaved bald. After the match Vince McMahon tries to run away, but Lashley catches him, puts him in the ring & Donald Trump & Lashley shave Vince's hair all bald in the most greatest Wrestlemania moment that I can remember. Then Stone Cold nails Donald Trump with a Stunner, before leaving. 5/10

SEVENTH MATCH- MELINA VS. ASHLEY IN A LUMBERJILL MATCH FOR TE WWE WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP Okay Diva matches are boring yes, this one here is an example of how boring Diva matches are. I mean this match took like 3 minutes, didn't even go any longer. Melina wins to retain her WWE Women's Championship, although I didn't really see how. 2/10

EIGHT MATCH- JOHN CENA VS. SHAWN MICHAELS FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP John Cena's entrance was him driving a cool Mustang, & slamming through the Wrestlemania arena as his entrance, really cool. Alright, the match started slow, then picked up a great pace at the end, both Cena & Michaels were busted open. Okay match, really nothing to complain about, as both these men tried to put on a great show, & successfully they did. Cena makes Michaels tap out to the STFU to retain his WWE Championship. Cena starts celebrating with fireworks all over the arena, as Wrestlemania goes off the air. 5/10

Another great Wrestlemania, another Mr. Money In The Bank winner. Undertaker continues his winning Wrestlemania streak in a big way this time, winning the World Heavyweight Championship, & John Cena again retains his title in a hard match with the legendary Shawn Michaels, & Vince McMahon is now a bald billionaire, oh what am I kidding, Donald Trump is richer than McMahon. Thumbs up to another great Wrestlemania.

Overall I'll give it 7/10 & a C+

A Superb Wrestlemania
Terryfan12 July 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Wrestlemania 23 was indeed a strong Wrestlemania. It show case what Wrestlemania is suppose to be. It contain some of the most amazing matches in wrestling history as well as good entertainment.

They call Wrestlemania the show case of the immortals and this Wrestlemania actually shows it

1.Randy Orton vs Edge vs Mr.Kennedy vs CM PUNK vs King Booker vs Finlay vs Matt Hardy Vs Jeff Hardy Money in the bank Ladder Match. Now this was a strong opening match and it thrills the fans from start to finish and it gave us a lot of high spots that you would have to watch again

Rating: 8 out of 10

2.Kane vs The Great Khali. This match was pretty much a bored mess and more of a excuse to get a drink because this match is not worth your time

Rating: 2 out of 10

3.MVP: Montel Vontavious Porter vs Chris Benoit for the WWE United States Championship.

Watching this match you see what a real match is suppose to be MVP's entrance was pretty cool as he came out with Cheerleaders for his gimmick and both men gave us a well thought out fight

Rating: 8 out of 10

4.The Undertaker vs Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship This is my personal favorite match of the night since The Undertaker is my favorite wrestler. Batista can work a good match if given the right opponent. They gave us a heck of a match and thrill us having us on the edge of our seats thinking that Batista had the Undertaker right where he wanted him and The Undertaker show why he's the Phenom of the WWE This is just a excellent wrestling match and you got to clap for both men after a battle they had

Rating: 9 out of 10

5.The ECW Originals (Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, and The Sandman) vs The New Breed (Elijah Burke,Marcus Cor Von, Matt Striker, and Kevin Thorn with Ariel) This feud was between the legends of ECW against the New Breed honestly this match was up against the last match consider how drain the fans were after the title match so honest this match just was decent at best

Rating: 7 out of 10

6. Bobby Lashley (with Donald Trump) vs Umaga (with Mr.McMahon and Armando Alejandro Estrada) Hair Vs Hair Battle of the Billionaires with Stone Cold Steve Austin as Special Guest Referee.

This was a good match overall plus it was funny what happened to the one who got his head shaved of their hair but I will leave that mystery to you. It just a entertaining match and have some good moments too

Rating: 9 out of 10

7.Ashley vs Melina Lumberjill Match for the WWE Women's Championship now this match was just for show looking back on it but it was nice to see all the Divas out there

Rating: 4 out of 10

8. John Cena vs Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship. John Cena's entrance with the Ford Mustang since they were in the Ford Field that night was really cool and he crash right into glass to enter the arena

And the interesting thing about this match they were the World Tag Team Champions going into it. Never the less they work a very good main event that awarded the fans who brought tickets and order it on Pay Per View and the climax of the match is pretty insane

Rating: 8 out of 10

Overall this Wrestlemania was pretty good it was full of thrills and feature many legends it just shows that this is how you are suppose to have a wrestling show

I give WWE Wrestlemania 23 an 9 out of 10

Money in the bank 2 start off... was a surprise. Jeffs leap AMAZING... all the finishers going around didn't like and the ending was predictable... Kennedy.

Kane V khali... why? main highlight Kane scoop slamming kahli.. shades of mania 3. khali wins with a choke bomb MVP V Benoit: i was actually enjoying this match but the finish ruined it. i was pulling for MVP but then it just ended suddenly after Benoit hit the head but of the top.

Undertaker V Batista: was expecting a crappy slug fest but i was really impressed.. great match with the dead man going 15-0 originals v new breed: was short but exciting... RVD wins with a 5-STAR Lashley V Umaga: nothing to great.. Austin made the match fun :D lashley gets the win after a stunner from Austin and then spearing umaga. BALD GOES VINCE!! Austin then stunner's TRUMP :O Ashley v Melina: great toilet break :) HBK V cena: TOP MATCH!! cena wins with an stfu.. great counters all over the ring... match had me on my feet!! One of The BEST WrestleManias EVER!! IN YEARS!!
bwctat5 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
What a great PPV. 2007 was a dark year to be a WWE fan. The ratings are low, the weekly shows aren't very good, a lot of people stopped watching WWE at that time. But as for this PPV, The opener was MOTN. So many spots throughout the MITB ladder match and two of the most parts throughout the match were Jeff Hardy does the big leg drop off the top of the 20 foot high ladder onto Edge and Randy Orton RKOs CM Punk off the top of the ladder. I thought Mr. Kennedy winning MITB was an alright decision. Kane vs. The Great Khali was terrible and the only good thing was Kane body slamming Khali. Bobby Lashley vs. Umaga could've been better and the best moment was Mr. McMahon got his head shave BALD by Bobby Lashley, Donald Trump and Stone Cold Steve Austin. And Donald Trump gets stunned by Stone Cold. Melina vs Ashley was skippable. Chris Benoit vs MVP for the US title was good. The Undertaker vs. Batista was MOTN. One of the Best WWE Matches of 2007. The Undertaker gave Batista his best match of his career and wins the world heavyweight championship to become 15-0 at WrestleMania. The ECW Originals vs. The New Breed = SKIP! Cena/HBK which i thought was one of the best main events in WrestleMania history but seriously underrated. Overall: this show is a pass.

One of the greatest in a long time
ncskitso3924 May 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Well I must say that this years WrestleMania has been one of the better ones. It definitely beat both the past 2 WrestleManias 21 and 22.

Money in the Bank Ladder Match - CM Punk vs Edge vs Jeff Hardy vs Finlay vs Matt Hardy vs Mr Kennedy vs King Booker vs Randy Orton This years money in the bank ladder match featured some of the top superstars from WWE and one from ECW. In the end Jeff Hardy took himself and Edge out of the match after falling on top of Edge through a ladder In the end it was only Finally, CM Punk and Mr Kennedy left standing. Kennedy rolls all over the little bastard after Finlay's little bastard tried to win the match for Finally. CM Punk knocks Kennedy off and right when he is going to grab the briefcase he is knocked out by Kennedy. Kennedy picks up the win after.

Kane vs the Great Khali Nothing much here then 2 giants slugging it out. Kane body slams Khali though shades of Hogan and Andre. Khali wins after a double choke-slam.

Chris Beniot vs MVP (United States Championship) Well there are 2 ways to look at this if you are not a fan of technical wrestling this match will put you to sleep thats the way to put it. MVP had an outstanding WrestleMania performance and he will only get better. Benoit retains not by submission but with the Diving Headbutt.

Batista vs The Undertaker (World Heavyweight Championship) My god this was the match of the night in my opinion but it did not make sense why it was so low on the card this should have been the second to last match at least. Well both men put on a really good performance, Batista dominated mostly throughout the match even power slamming Undertaker through a table. Undertaker came back though and hit a last ride on Batista. Batista kicked out then hit a Batista Bomb on the Undertaker. But Undertaker kicked out! Undertaker then hits the Tombstone Piledriver and wins the World title. Winner and new champ The Undertaker.

ECW Originals vs the New Breed Well after the Taker Batista match this match did not deserve to be higher then that and like all ECW match's this one sucked. Originals win after RVD hit a frog splash on Matt Striker.

Bobby Lashly vs Umaga with Stone Cold as Referee OK battle of the billionaires had one major problem with the story Donald Trump has little hair as it is and I don't think he would agree to do something (since WWE is pre determined) to lose his hair. Well Stone Cold made this match thats why a lot of wrestling fans watched it, others did because Trump was on it. Lashly wins after Stone Cold stuns Umaga then Lashly hits a spear the pin Umaga. After Lashly, Trump and Stone Cold shave Mcmahons head.

Ashley vs Melina (Womens Championship) OK first of all can anyone explain why this out of all things was the 2nd highest match on the card? Because I sure don't know why. The whole match was a waste of time point made. Melina retains her title when she pins Ashley.

HBK vs John Cena (WWE Championship) Main events at Wrestlemaina are always special but as a fan I got to say i am disappointed that HBK did not walk out as champion. Very physical match HBK out wrestles Cena for the first half of the match until he cracks his head open on the ring post. Cena then dominates HBK up until HBK pile-drives Cenas head on the ring steps busting him open. Both men hit their finishers the FU, Sweet Chin Music and the STFU but neither can seem to win. Then Cena traps HBK in the STFU one more time forcing him to tap. Winner and still champion John Cena.

Well the main event outcome was the same as last years which I think why people are not happy with it.

Still a Great WrestleMania if you were not able to catch it live or on Pay Per View when it comes out on DVD go buy it as soon as you can.

Overall Grade A-

Wrestlemania 23 = fantastic watch
scotty22072 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
this was a fanctastic event, yes not all the matches were top notch but overall this was an outstanding show of athletic talent and show-stopping, jaw dropping moves!

Money in the bank = not a surprise that kennedy picked up the win but it dint matter after the unbelievable display throughout the whole match 10/10

Kane v Khale = poor but expected as it is impossible for khali to be carried through a match with great succession good slam from kane just a shame to see khali win 5/10

USA championship = great mat wrestle with quick moves and good display of grapple holds. maybe could have had more to it but benoit delivers a great flying head butt to pick up a well earned win 7/10

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP = fantastic! great to see my favourite undertaker win and in such a well fought battle. This fight was great as many finishers did not end the match making a heart racing match which left me on the edge of my seat 10/10

ecw original v ecw new breed = generally a good match, maybe not the best way to do it as it would have been good as an elimination tag match. well fought with good finishing display by winners ORIGINALS also could have been longer 7/10

Battle of the billionaires = fantastic, bit of an expected result but generally a very good match with twists and turns. good to see a head being shaved! 9/10

women championship = short! poor! not a great match, could have been longer, but agreeably not the worst ever! ashley should have won, shame she didn't, rematch guaranteed! 4/10

WWE championship = also a fantastic match just a shame shawn michaels did not prevail as champ at the end of it!!! 10/10

All in all superb ppv, WATCH IT!!

Not so good
chris_22_0327 June 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This was one of the worst Wrestlemania's I've seen. It just didn't stand out at all, really. Card wise, I thought it was going to be pretty good, but every match just seemed to fall short.

Chris Benoit vs. MVP One of the better matches. Benoit carried it. I just didn't think MVP was that great, but Benoit saved this match.

Kane vs. Khali Wow, these two guys don't mix. Or maybe it's Khali and any other person alive don't mix. Awful match.

Melina vs. Ashley I'm not a fan of female wrestling.

ECW Originals vs. New Breed I was excited about this match, until I saw it. Really, Really disappointing.

Edge vs. CM Punk vs. King Booker vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy vs. Mr. Kennedy vs. Finlay vs. Randy Orton Absolutely the worst MITB match so far. Just a major let down, to many people in the ring at the same time. It just didn't live up.

Bobby Lashley vs. Umaga O.K. not extremely impressive, but not the worst of the night.

Batista vs. Undertaker This was maybe the best match of the night. Very, very, very nice to see something good for a change.

John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels I really feel like this match deserved to be last. People make a case for Batista vs. Undertaker, but this match was just as good. I am starting to get sick of seeing Cena win every match though. It's getting a little old. Now, I have to say, I feel this match is the best of the night, but I'm a huge Shawn Michaels fan, so I'm a little biased. Batista vs. 'Taker may have been better, but I'm biased, so...sorry. The last two were undoubtedly the best matches of the night and most everything else really came up short.

Personally, Top 10.
Movie-ManDan10 May 2016
Overall, I think that this was an improvement from last year's Mania. 22 was awesome, this was just better. It had so much good and it still remains one of my favourites.

The opening match was the epic Money in the Bank bout, where Mr. Kennedy defeated CM Punk, Randy Orton, Finlay, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, King Booker, and Edge. Of course Kennedy was not a worthy winner, so Edge beat him for it weeks later. It was long, but sweet. 8.5/10

Kane and the Great Khali was a forgettable and bad match. Glad I haven't seen it since this ppv aired. 2.5/10

Next up was Chris Benoit retaining his US title against MVP. It was Benoit's last Mania before his suicide later that year. Any match featuring Chris Benoit is a match I love. 8.5/10

This was around the time that the World Heavyweight Championship's value was diminishing. I don't get why they placed it in the middle on this epic night. There was a great backstory with great wrestlers for a valuable prize. So the writers must've known the match would deliver. It did deliver! Match of the night and of the year. 10/10

Now we come to RVD, Tommy Dreamer, Sandman, and Sabu--ECW Originals--take on Kevin Thorn, Marcus Cor Von, Matt Striker, and Elijah Burke--The New Breed. The Originals won in one of the best ECW moments since Vince brought it back. Vince didn't know what to do with ECW since it was not his creation, but this is an example of one of its high points. 8/10

Next is the Battle of the Billionaires Hair match. This caught the biggest media attention since it involved Donald Trump. Of course Trump and Vince would not wrestle, so Trump got Bobby Lashley and Vince got Umaga to wrestle, and Stone Cold was guest referee. Awesome match! Lashley won and they actually showed Vince getting his head shaved! 10/10

The second-last match saw Melina beating Ashley Massaro for the Women's Title. Not a very good match, but the lumberjills and the competitors are no longer around, so it is cool to see the old-timers back again. 7/10

Now come to John Cena facing Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship. Not as good as last year's and about 10 minutes too long, but still great. 9/10

Overall 8/10

One of the best

Warning: Spoilers
All the main matches lived up to the hype and then some. MITB3 was outstanding. Including Hardy's leg drop from the ladder putting Edge through the table. Taker/Batista was great as well. Finally, Batista showed and performed better than the average "roid head" he is. Hair vs. Hair was also good. Thanks for adding the "Coast to Coast" by Shane O' Mac, it made the match that much better. And finally, HBK/Cena had some excellent bumps in their match including the pile driver on to the steps by HBK which busted Cena wide open. Overall 8 out 10, right up there with WM17 and WM22, two of the highest rated WMs on this site.

As for the under cards: Beniot/MVP 5 out 10; Khali/Kane 1 out 10 (Wrestlecrap.com here we come!); Lumberjill match 3 out 10; ECW match 4 out 10 (kinda stunk); Pre-wrestlemania tag-team lumberjack match- 5 out of 10 (only because of the Nature Boy! WOOOOOOOOOOO!)

WrestleMania 23 Review.

Warning: Spoilers
Money In The Bank Ladder Match This was a Money In The Bank match with not too many hight spots but more wrestling then you'd expect. Some pretty cool moments that included comedy. ***1/4

Kane vs Khali This was much better then expected. 5 minutes seemed just right. *1/4

Chris Benoit vs MVP This was a great match. Classic in my opinion but it could have been a lot longer say around 15-20 mins. But none the less, it was still great. ***

The Undertaker vs Batista This was the best match of the night. It stole the show. Undertaker didn't even need to carry Batista to a good match, Batista did it all by himself not being carried. This was a great back and fourth type of match with a great spot of Batista doing a Running Powerslam from one announce table to the other. Just a great match and a great finish. ****1/4

ECW New Breed vs ECW Originals I don't remember to much other then there was a lot of highspots at around the 5 minute mark. An OK match. Nothing special. **

Bobby Lashley vs Umaga This was much better then I thought. The addition of Austin, Trump, Mr. McMahon and Shane McMahon all made it even better. Another great match. It was so memorable watching Mr. McMahon being shaved bald. ***1/2

Melina vs Ashley I was eating. So I didn't see it, but from what I heard, it sucked hard, which it probably did. DUD

WWE Title Match Shawn Michaels vs John Cena I have to say, I thought this would be the match of the night, but it really wasn't. This was all Shawn Michaels. John Cena did nothing but three moves all in 30 minutes. Just horrible. ***

DVD package worth getting for the 5 hours of great extras

Warning: Spoilers
Wrestlemania 23:The Ultimate Limited Edition:- as the WWE repeats over and over- Wrestlemania is the Super Bowl of Sports Entertainment and this year they staged their Super Bowl in the same building the NFL used to stage the Super Bowl.I enjoyed several of the matches- I thought the Batista vs Undertaker match was very strong and that the Cena vs HBK match built to a nice finish. The money in the bank ladder match was another good stunt fest. The billionaire bald match had some funny spots with Donald Trump & Vinny Mac.The DVD is chock full of extras including matches and promos before and after mania. One of the best parts of Wrestle Mania weekend is the Hall of Fame ceremony - if you spend the extra 10 dollars for the 3 disc edition you will get the excellent Hall of Fame ceremony - a mix of legends, anecdotes, vintage footage and tears and hugs- a must for any fan of old school rasslin'. The event itself was a decent card with some good matches- but the DVD collection is another solid addition to any wrestling fans library. A-
