Smoke gets in your eyes

Joe Jones Ltd. is still intact despite recent cash problems. He interviews possible replacements for his beloved secretary Doreen. Actually, there is only one applicant - the plain 'Muriel Bailey' ( Janine Duvitski ). She gets the job.

Elsewhere, the lads are unsuccessfully wallpapering an office. Some hoary old clichés are trotted out here as Wobbly puts his foot through the paper as he goes up a ladder, while Eric's attempts to assemble a pasting table would shame Laurel & Hardy. A new job comes their way, so like all good builders they ditch the current one and jump into their van. To their horror, they are expected to paint the top of an incredibly high chimney stack...

Not a good episode if you suffer from vertigo. When Geyser first claps eyes on Old Smokey, he exclaims: "You want someone to climb that, get Batman!". But the money on offer is good and he goes up the ladder along with the others. Petrified, he begins writing messages on bricks and hurling them at Joe, who thinks he has gone mad. Introductory episode for Janine, and its quite a jolt having her as the female lead instead of the sexy Debbie Linden.

Funniest moment - Muriel telling Jones that the boys are up the wrong chimney. She points out an even taller row of chimneys in the distance. Her new boss faints!
