George Cleveland culminated a long career in radio, television, and movies with his role of Gramps. In contrast, Ralph Moody, who was the same age and similarly had been in show business for most of his life, was fairly new to the movies and network broadcasts, beginning with one of his earliest roles in these media playing another Gramps on the 1949 short-lived NBC radio program "The Trouble with the Truitts."
Adjusted for inflation, the $9,000 prize money Gramps mentions would equal nearly $104,000 in the year 2024. The $60 Higgy's mother had in her purse would equal about $700.
