Never theatrically released in the UK - though oddly, its sequel Why Did I Get Married Too? (2010) was. (Tyler Perry's films do not enjoy commercial success in Europe and hardly ever receive theatrical releases there.)
Janet Jackson was originally sought for a role in Madea's Family Reunion (2006) but proved unavailable. Tyler Perry was very keen to work with her so asked her to be in this film.
An adaptation of Tyler Perry's play of the same name, Perry deliberately removed most of the church and message scenes in order to make the film less preachy.

In the DVD trailer, towards the end, the song I Don't Wanna Fight by Tina Turner (the theme for the 1993 biopic about Turner's life "What's Love Got To Do With It?") is played
