Their Darkest Adventure

The Best News Yet is the last of three-part episode of Superbook about Jesus Christ.

In this particular episode,Superbook takes Chris,Joy and Gizmo again during the time of Jesus. After meeting him when he was an infant,a boy and a man preaching the Gospel to the Ancient Israelites, they now meet him at the darkest hour of his life.He is near his death on the cross. Our main characters were saddened to find out. They first get to realize that one of his apostles,Judas Iscariot have had issues with Jesus with regards to some his teachings and his actions. This led the apostle to betray him and send him to the High Priest,Caiaphas. When Jesus went into trial, the Pharisees were convinced that Jesus has indeed blasphemed by proclaiming himself as the Son of God and sent him to the governor Pontius Pilate, who sentenced him to die on the cross. Our main characters felt the man suffered injustice. To them,he was a good man who does not deserved to be treated like a criminal. What's worse, they were supremely disappointed when his other apostles went into hiding and when Peter denied knowing him three times.Truly, this is one dark adventure if not their darkest. Our young characters have truly experienced great pain in this adventure. But despite of the events, they always kept a positive attitude and were always optimistic that things are going to turn alright in the end.

And they sure did!!!When our main characters saw Joseph of Arithmetea who was going to anoint Jesus' dead body, they were surprised to find out from an angel that he has risen from the dead. Then at the end of the episode, they saw him from afar (as they were not permitted to see him yet in this life) Jesus rejoining his apostles and ascending into heaven.

This episode obviously never intended to explain Christian beliefs and principles to its intended viewers - young children - nor did it try to explain the meaning of the death and resurrection of Jesus. It only tried to teach the lesson of keeping an optimistic attitude when things go wrong.Chris,Joy and Gizmo tried to learn that as the ugly events transpired when bad things were happening to Jesus.Aside from that,it also emphasized that when Chris was missing his mother who as been gone for a long time.In the end, everything turned out alright when he saw his mom back in the house that made him truly happy. But nevertheless,it tried to provide a basic introduction on the events during the death and resurrection of Jesus.
