Heckler is the documentary lead by Jamie Kennedy about the small group of people that destroy comedians performances as well as directors and actors and their films. The film explores the world of the stand up comedian and the various troubles they encounter with hecklers. Hecklers for those of you that don't know are those who shout out obnoxiously during a performance who mostly drunk, or a$$holes or both. The film features many comedians who chronicle their own experiences and share their opinions on hecklers. That is the first section, the second half of the film dives into the world of criticism in every form of entertainment being music, television and film. The presenter himself is part of both these worlds, being a stand up comic and actor. The film is obviously very personal to him due to his fair share of harsh reviews and hecklers. Even during the filming of the movie he is heckled during his performance. Jaime even goes as far as to interview some of his harshest critics throughout the film. The main driving force behind this movie is the interview subjects. The film has a great blend of relatively unknown comedians and actors to top notch directors and actors. A few faces you might not expect to see turn out to be in this film such as Carrie Fisher, Peter Gruber, Joel Shumacher and Geroge Lucas. The film is very funny thanks to the outlandish stories told by the comedians with their experience with hecklers. Even if your not a fan of stand up you will enjoy this documentary. It is not too long so it doesn't over stay its welcome. The editing is fast paced leaving no down time so the laughs keep coming. At times this can be deep however the comedy quickly comes back at the right moments. Check it out, you wont regret it.
