Bunny Hopper is half of a stand up comedy act who were once on the brink of stardom but are relegated to playing to small crowds in social clubs. When Bunny collapses on stage, everyone assumes a heart attack but the post-mortem reveals that he had ingested rat poison. Despite his age, Bunny was quite a ladies man. Not only was he married, he had a long list of lady friends all over the country with three regular girlfriends in Willesden alone, all of whom were at the club the night he died. With most of the squad away on a special assignment, Dangerous and his friend Mod start interviewing all of the suspects in the case only to come to the realization that he's got it all wrong. This is the third episode of season 5 of The Last Detective and also the third last episode of the whole series, thank God. The first three seasons each had four episodes and season four had five episodes.

Here, Dangerous investigates the murder of a stand-up comedian who died on stage after drinking a glass of wine as part of his act with his comedy partner. It turns out the fatally poisoned comedian had several girlfriends on the go, one them played by Barbara Thorn who was exemplary as Rita "Coop" Cooper, the trusty secretary to Judge John Deed in the series Judge Deed.

Mod has settled well in his house share with Dangerous and Julie (the bitch) and their cute St Bernard wasn't feeling well. Poor dog.

I like the London atmosphere of the Last Detective which would've been better if Julie got killed off in season 2 so Dangerous should've gotten with Mrs Fulljames...the grey skies, the shoulder-to-shoulder housing, the rain. Sadly, this marks Mrs Fulljames's last appearance.
