Storyline

This episode takes a much more serious note than the last 12 episodes. In the beginning, Haruhi and Kyon fail to gain any evidence about Ryoko Asakura's disappearance and then Haruhi tells Kyon about why she seeks espers, aliens and time-travelers. As Kyon solemnly reaches home, Itsuki arrives and takes him on a car ride telling everything about Haruhi and why both of them are here. At the same time, Itsuki is unhappy that he got involved with Haruhi and blames Kyon. After getting off, Itsuki and Kyon transport into closed space, which is a different world created by Haruhi whenever she is bored or angry. They later see a monster destroying the buildings and Itsuki along with his fellow espers who are there, successfully destroy the monster and the closed space, while Kyon gazes with amazement. Later, Itsuki explains what closed space does and drops off Kyon at his home. As we soon find out, this episode is an indicator of what will happen to Kyon and Haruhi in the final episode.
