Sex & Nudity

The worst content in the show is all the sexual remarks and references. They are frequent, but usually mild. There are some stronger references at various points throughout the show. Howard briefly mentions necrophilia in one episode. It is revealed that Howard lost his virginity with his cousin.

For the first two seasons, the character Howard has been portrayed as a sex-crazed pervert willing to do anything to get into the bedroom with a woman. In more recent seasons however, he has matured and is a much less negative role model.

Couples are sometimes shown making out in bed. This is usually interrupted by humorous dialog and is nowhere near explicit. It is sometimes implied that the characters are naked beneath the covers, but we see nothing but bare shoulders and backs.

Numerous episodes include topics such as sex, casual sex, homosexuality, cybersex, masturbation, and "friends-with-benefits". These are not pervasive or strong/explicit though, and they are usually played for laughs. However, the message drawn away from this will be a rather negative influence on some viewers.

The characters in the show have low sexual morality, some more than others. Sometimes they will use each other to get off without any desire to form a relationship with them. This is played for laughs and is not meant to be taken seriously, but it will likely be a bad influence on younger audiences.

In one of the episodes, Leonard, Raj and Howard are in Las Vegas, Leonard opens a black bag, and Raj took out a pack of condoms or what it looks like.

In a Season 7 episode, Penny is wearing sexy pink lingerie, with a good amount of cleavage exposed.

Sheldon can be seen spanking Amy in one episode, although both are fully clothed and it is not meant to be sexual.

It is often implied that Leonard and Penny have loud sex.

Violence & Gore

Some mild slapstick violence such as wedgies and crashing a moped.

Some curse words like crap, damn, and hell are occasionally used.

Bitch and bastard are used occasionally.

'piss' is used once.

The characters drink quite often. We often see them drunk.

Raj suffers from selective mutism and can only talk to women after he has drank alcohol.

Penny is a bartender and can often be seen preparing alcoholic drinks. Sheldon often attempts to drink alcohol but doesn't usually succeed.

In the episode which shows Howard's bachelor party, the majority of the male characters are drunk.

There are some drug references, but usually mild.

Amy's research is referenced sometimes and contains a starfish hooked on pot and monkeys smoking.

In one episode, Leonard, Raj, and Howard unknowingly eat hash brownies and become high.

In one episode, Penny and Sheldon's mother get very drunk.

One or two intense scenes such as in the Halloween episode, but this isn't too bad. Sheldon has a dream about being eaten by aliens.

Some of the mature themes are sad and emotional.
