I'll admit that I am a friend of the family, but I am very opinionated about film/cinema. This film reveals a maturing talent in the director/writer, Daniel Rigdon. In a short amount of time, he gives viewers a simple, concise and gripping story about some teens/young adults who make a rash decision that will produce weighty consequences. Rigdon communicates well visually and, with sparse dialogue, handles delicately the themes of guilt and vengeance.
The performances are from amateurs but are solid. It was shot on HD and looks pretty crisp. The music is original and was scored by one of the cast members. Rigdon adequately edits his own work and makes some interesting decisions there.
"Prick" was officially selected for the Chicago International Reel Shorts Film Festival and was shown there in September of 2006. It has also recently been selected to show at the Fylmz Festival 2007 in February in Nashville. I recommend it to anyone who appreciates short dramatic films.
