Josh Hartnett, Margarita Levieva Starring in Thriller ‘Inherit the Viper’
Josh Hartnett and Margarita Levieva will star in Barry Films’ crime thriller “Inherit the Viper,” which explores the prescription drug epidemic in West Virginia.

Anthony Jerjen is directing from Andrew Crabtree’s original script. The project is produced by Michel Merkt (“Elle,” “Toni Erdmann”) and Benito Mueller (“The Whistleblower”) and executive produced by Wolfgang Mueller for Barry Films.

Hartnett and Levieva will portray siblings as they try to escape the spiral of violence that has held them captive since their father’s passing. Their characters deal with a region left behind by the economy, in which selling drugs has become their way of survival and a business that’s very hard to quit.

“’Inherit the Viper’ is a visceral story of a family fighting to escape its destiny,” said Merkt. “I am thrilled to be able to tell it on this third collaboration with the incredibly talented director Anthony Jerjen, whose career

Amazon Acquires Natalie Dormer Series “Picnic at Hanging Rock,” Larysa Kondracki to Direct

Natalie Dormer in “Game of Thrones

Margaery Tyrell is making her way to Amazon. Deadline reports that the streaming service has picked up “Picnic at Hanging Rock,” a six-episode Australian period drama toplined by “Game of Thrones” alumna Natalie Dormer. The re-imagining of Joan Lindsay’s 1967 novel is being overseen “The Whistleblower” helmer Larysa Kondracki, who also directed the pilot and two other episodes of the mystery. Beatrix Christian (“Jindabyne”) is credited as script producer and establishing writer, and Alice Addison (“The Hunter”) penned the series.

Scheduled for a 2018 premiere on Amazon Prime Video Us, “Picnic at Hanging Rock” sees Dormer playing English headmistress Mrs. Hester Appleyard, “a woman whose dead husband instructs her daily life and whose peculiarities are surely hiding dark skeletons,” Deadline summarizes. The series “chronicles the mysterious disappearances of three schoolgirls and one teacher on Valentine’s Day 1900. The complex, interwoven narrative follows the subsequent investigation and the event’s far-reaching impact on the students, families, and staff of Appleyard College, and on the nearby township.”

The supporting cast includes Yael Stone (“Orange is the New Black”), Lily Sullivan (“Camp”), and Madeleine Madden (“Tomorrow When the War Began”).

Picnic at Hanging Rock” hails from distributor FremantleMedia International.

“The stylish re-imagining of the provocative ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’ story will no doubt capture contemporary audiences across the U.S.,” said Caroline Kusser, Svp, Sales & Distribution for FremantleMedia International in North America. “With fantastic scripts, outstanding cast, and bold editorial direction from Larysa Kondracki, ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’ is set to be a must-see series in 2018. We are thrilled to be working with Amazon Prime Video to bring this powerful drama to U.S. screens.”

The show’s world premiere will be on Foxtel in Australia sometime in 2018.

Amanda Brotchie (“Girlboss”) is also among the series’ directors.

Kondracki has helmed episodes of many high-profile series including “Power,” “Legion,” “Better Call Saul,” “Halt and Catch Fire,” “The Americans,” and “The Walking Dead.” When we asked what advice she’d give other female directors, Kondracki responded, “Don’t think too hard about it. You aren’t a ‘female director.’ You’re a director. Just do it.”

Best known for her role on “Game of Thrones,” Dormer’s other credits include “The Tudors,” “Elementary,” and the “Hunger Games” franchise. “It was refreshing to play a character who wasn’t defined by a love entanglement or a marital ambition. She is there because she the best at her job,” she said of her character in the latter, Cressida.

Amazon Acquires Natalie Dormer Series “Picnic at Hanging Rock,” Larysa Kondracki to Direct was originally published in Women and Hollywood on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Rachel Weisz To Star In Snatchback

Sorry, Dredd-heads, but it doesn’t look like director Pete Travis is waiting around in hopes of a green-light for a follow-up to his beloved but low-grossing 2012 comic-book adaptation. The helmer is now lining up kidnap thriller Snatchback, with Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz in the lead role.

Weisz (The Constant Gardener) will take on the role of Maureen Dabbagh, a real Virginia woman whose ex-husband kidnapped their two-year-old daughter and fled to the Middle East back in 1992. Dabbagh spent over 10 years tracking the pair across the volatile region before she finally got her daughter back.

In Snatchback, which Travis also scribed, the true story will get a rather Hollywood twist, with Dabbagh becoming a mercenary of sorts, embarking on dangerous missions to help other families to recover their kidnapped children from the Middle East while continuing her own search.

Weisz co-developed and will produce the project, which is currently

Who’S It For? Nothing else to see and like action standards? Maybe you’ll like a matinee showing of The November Man.

Pierce Brosnan was a good James Bond. Regardless of what may be said about the films within his stint as the famous secret agent, he wore the uniform well, spoke the lines, and did it with finesse. In a business sense: he was a good employee, but he was not a part of any big movements within the series, aside from starring in an action movie about the news (Tomorrow Never Dies) or that one time he surfed a
