A foolish young wife, susceptible to flattery, succumbs to the blandishments of an unscrupulous villain and, with only imaginary reasons, leaves her husband, a misstep she had reason to regret only once, and that was for the balance of her life. Tom Morton, her husband, heartbroken and desperate, lets go of everything and sinks about as far down as a man can. He falls into good hands, however, and is restored to a sense of reason and tries hard work as an antidote for bitter reflection. His wife, now a cast-off plaything, finds him and begs forgiveness. He forgives, but cannot forget. She sadly leaves her last hope only a few moments before her accidental death.
