Storyline

Word has reached Camelot that since Derek's death which Duncan was responsible for, Kengary is locked in civil war with Derek's clan fighting King Ian's for his not killing him. King Arthur has Valiant lead a party, including Rowanne, escorting Duncan there, not really caring that Valiant doesn't care for him either. But after chasing down Duncan on a crumbling bridge, Valiant is carried downriver with him and both are presumed dead. Valiant has to make the rest of the journey alone with Duncan to see that justice is done, meaning his enemy is the only one there who can help him when he sickens. Trivia

The original plot involved Duncan having a complete change of heart after meeting a refugee from Kengary named Margaret while Valiant, who never traveled with him there, had success when he led one of King Arthur's armies. The plot was changed so Valiant continued to work closely to spur Duncan's development. See more »

Goofs

Duncan stands on a point of the bridge intact past the gap from Valiant, but after Valiant jumps to him, they are both on the falling spot, now a different color than the rest of the stone. See more »

Quotes

[first lines]
Prince Valiant: Well done, Rowanne. In fact, yours was the closest of all.
Rowenne: You sound surprised, Valiant. As if I never win.
Arn: It's more like you never lose.
Prince Valiant: And I, for one, am beginning to be bored by it.
Rowenne: What was that, my narrow-minded prince?
Merlin: Valiant, come with me.
Prince Valiant: [bowing] Alas, duty calls.
Rowenne: Let's hope it doesn't call for much skill with a blade.
