Just before the opening titles, Van asks Reba "if you take loyalty and ethics out of business, you know what you have?". Reba then looks towards the studio audience and replies, "A television network?". This is an apparent jab at The CW for its poor treatment of the series. The CW attempted to cancel Reba after its fifth season as the series did not fit the network's target demographic of young adults, and only picked the series up for a shortened sixth season to fulfill the remainder of a prior two-season renewal by The WB that the new network would have had to pay a large fee to 20th Century Fox (the studio that produced Reba) to get out of.
