Storyline

The Rainbow Celebration is almost near as everyone in Ponyville prepares and awaits the first rainbow of the season. Meanwhile at the magical city of Unicornia, Cheerilee is teaching a young unicorn pony named Rarity about being a Rainbow Princess and her duties to make the First Rainbow of the Season using the magic wand. Rarity is still young and she accidentally uses the wand, which in turn teleports her into the middle of Breezie Blossom. Cheerilee, Brights Brightly and Whistle Wishes venture outside Unicornia in search of her. Rarity befriends the Breezies and they visit Ponyville and later Rarity feels homesick. Pinkie Pie, Minty, Rainbow Dash, Spike and the Breezies help her get home, just in time for the first rainbow of the season. Written by Anonymous

Cute, enjoyable and nice
4 May 2012 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

My Little Pony was a childhood favourite, and the wonderful My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic recently prompted me to re-visit the older episodes and check out the direct to video releases. Of the recent direct to video releases, Princess Promenade has been my favourite. However I did enjoy this. The story isn't that much surprising and I missed the sense of conflict from the older episodes, but still cute and charming with good morals. The characters are likable and engaging, if not as unique personality-wise in the older episodes and Friendship is Magic. I have heard more memorable songs before, but they were still catchy and tuneful. The score had an endearing sense of whimsy about it, the animation is colourful and the voice work is solid. The only real uneven asset was the writing, at times it was sweet and well-meaning, but also verged on contrived. All in all, nice and enjoyable, if not exceptional. 7/10 Bethany Cox
