Storyline

First episode of a five part drama documentary exploring the cross-cultural pressures on a 17 year old white girl and her West Indian boyfriend, by whom she is pregnant. The series is the story of their attempts to carve out a viable life for themselves against a backdrop of high rising unemployment, prejudice and the other deprivations of inner city life. Mandy Lewis and Winston Roberts, both 17 are in love and discover that they are expecting a baby. Mandy's mother, Beryl, gets to know through a letter she finds in Mandy's room. She rushes Mandy off to a doctor demanding instant abortion. Mandy does not follow the doctor's advice.
