Billy goes bad....
planktonrules9 January 2014
This is a very good episode of "Racket Squad" that stars Billy Gray--a child actor who would go on to great fame in the "Father Knows Best" TV series. It begins with a mother feeling frustrated with her son (Gray) as the boy refuses to listen to her and runs the streets at all hours. She has no idea what he's up to but has found a lot of unexplained money in his belongings. So, she calls the local priest who then goes to Capt. John Braddock (Reed Hadley) to get his help in investigating. It turns out that the boy is one of several local kids who are working with a couple nasty hustlers--hustlers who are passing phony checks. Unfortunately, the boy has second-thoughts and has decided to leave the racket--and they might just kill him to keep the boy quiet! Can the Captain and his men get there on time?

This is a pretty exciting episode--good enough that it has encouraged me to see more episodes of this show about con men and thieves. Well written and acted and interesting throughout. Even with a rather preachy epilogue, it's well worth your time.
