Goofs

Continuity

The blood splatter on the windshield goes from being in the middle of the broken glass to being spread out across the windshield and then back again.

When David is seen repeatedly beating down on one of the winged creatures in the grocery store with a mop, there is one brief camera shot that clearly shows the end of the mop still attached (it had been removed moments earlier). The next shot shows the mop without the end.

After the bloody scene in the storeroom, David's shirt is wet, but not very soiled. When he steps into the market, there is a large smear of blood on his shirt.

The first trail-mark of blood, supposedly left by Norm after being dragged under the stockroom door, is thick and plenty. Yet in the scene where David is seen looking at the alien retreat back under this door, it's not same trail of blood - it's not as thick, and is sparse.

Factual errors

When they are leaving the market, all those headlights on the truck would produce a bright blinding wall of light in the mist. They would see nothing in front of the truck.
As the group walk up to the pharmacy, you can see the business hours on the door glass readable from inside; whereas you should see them backwards (from inside) so that someone walking up to the door would see them correctly.

Maine has counties not parishes. Parishes are the term for counties mostly found in Louisiana.

Throughout the movie, but prominently in one scene where David is standing with some shelves behind him, the shelves are stocked with "Zapp's potato chips" (specifically the orange 'Hotter 'n Hot Jalapeno' flavor). Zapp's are not sold in Maine. Zapp's Potato Chips is a company based out of Gramercy, LA and they market their products largely across the south. Zapp's ARE sold in Shreveport, LA where the movie was filmed.

Jim refers to Morales and Donaldson as "peckerwoods". Morales is Latino. Donaldson is African-American. The dictionary defines "peckerwoods" as Southern U.S. slang for "poor whites".

Prior to going out to the pharmacy, Ollie declared that there are only ten bullets left in the gun. A little while later, this time, as the group was on their way back to the grocery, a spider showed up. Ollie aimed his gun at the spider and pulled the trigger only to find out that the gun has ran out of ammo.

Back at the grocery, David, Ollie and a small group decided to leave the place and take their chances outside. They were stopped by Mrs. Carmody who gets shot by supposedly an empty gun by Ollie.

Miscellaneous

Strangely enough, the Military convoy at the end of the film is led by a self-propelled howitzer, not a tank. This type of vehicle was not meant to be on the front-lines, but was a support weapon, and thus wasn't suited to lead a convoy into a danger zone. An actual tank, which should have led the line, can be seen in the back as the convoy goes by.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

Mrs. Carmody is supposedly a devout Christian, yet refers to the book of "Revelation" as "Revelations". This mistake is quite common even among people who claim to be devout Christians. She is not an ideal model of mental health, either, allowing some leeway in this matter.

Revealing mistakes

The fallen tree which crashed through the house of David Drayton at the beginning of the film, appears to have had its roots cut.

The headline "Electric storm largest on record" on The Castle Rock Times is accompanied by "placeholder" text, commonly known in the publishing and design world as "Lorem Ipsum"- a derivative of Latin that is meant to have no meaning. Same for the text underneath the "Celebrating Heritage" blurb above the masthead.

When the tree "falls" through the window of the house at the beginning of the film, it comes straight in. The tree was clearly pushed into the window, rather than falling over.
Towards the end of the film you see a white state police car upside down, when marked Maine State police cars are blue with a round state police logo on the front doors, and the word STATE TROOPER on the front of the hood and above the front wheel well.

Spoilers

The goof items below may give away important plot points.

Anachronisms

Out-of-date Army uniforms. The MP khaki uniforms and plastic helmet liners were discontinued in 1975. The Jeep is pre-1990. The soldiers at the end wear woodland camouflage instead of 2007-vintage gray, green and tan pix-elated or digital pattern (Universal Camouflage Pattern).

Continuity

After David shoots the people in the car, we see blood stains on the inside of the windows, which we did not see from the outside when the shots were actually fired.

When Private Jessup is outside the supermarket about to be killed by a monster, he bangs and smears blood all over the door in a attempt to get back in. However after he leaves his final hand print on the door, the previous blood seen smeared on the door in previous shots seconds before is now missing.

When Private Jessup is being lynched, we see the wings of the collar of his shirt repeatedly switch from being tucked into his uniform and being stretched out on the outside.

When Norm is being dragged by the alien under the stockroom door, initially, there is no visible blood trail behind him. Yet a few scenes later when Ollie goes to stop the generator, there is a thick trail-mark of blood left by Norm on the floor by the ax. Then when David revisits the scene even later, the blood trail is different.

When the gigantic creature crosses the highway in front of the vehicle toward the end of the movie, the powerlines near the highway remain intact. If the beast had crossed the road, it would have broken the lines.
