Preying on the extremely vulnerable
13 May 2014 | by (Bradenton, Florida) – See all my reviews

The show begins like many--with a person coming to see Captain Braddock about a scam. The story begins with a young couple expecting a baby. However, the wife has a bad fall and not only loses the baby but is unable to have another. The couple is naturally depressed and are considering adoption. However, the process is very slow and it might be years until they get a kid. So, they succumb to the charms of a sleazy lawyer who insists that he can help them. However, it is a scam and the couple have no idea that they're in the middle of a big swindle. Some time later, just before the adoption becomes final, a woman comes to the couple's home--claiming she's the birth mother and wants the baby back. However, she isn't--she's just a scum-bag hired by the scum-bag lawyer and the whole thing is a shakedown to force the couple to pay extortion to keep the baby. Fortunately, the husband goes to the police before he pays this money. And, the show, unlike most, does NOT have a completely happy ending.

This episode is very informative and also packs an emotional wallop. One of the better episodes in the series.
