The Man Behind The Miniatures Is Found!
16 December 2008 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Well, the man who made all those fantastic miniature crime-scene replicas is finally caught.....and it's actually a bit sad when we see this guy. I agree with "Gil Grissom" who looks at the guy as a pathetic character who got "caught up with the little things" too much and wound up losing his marbles. Gil could relate, being obsessed with bugs.....but Gil is not a killer.

I won't say more than that to anyone who hasn't seen this episode but has seen a few earlier ones which involve this man. He's not seen until this program and it's kind of shock.

Meanwhile, the first crime involves a very bizarre story of circumstances in which a dead woman and her killer are both stuck in cement! Regarding that, we see more evidence how CSI co-star "Catherine Willows" (Marg Helgenberger) has really developed into a hard woman, a cold person. I don't remember her as such the first few years of this program but she's certainly not a very compassionate, nice woman. A good example is in this episode when an older man has an unbelievably horrible day and winds up accidentally killing two people. It's the guy who wound up in cement, which is darkly humorous. Yeah, the guy also was screwy, that's for sure, but laughing hysterically at his predicament over and over, which is what "Catherine" did, is cold. Grissom doesn't see it that way. He feels sorry for the guy, but she thinks something is wrong with her boss. Wow, that shows you where she's coming from. I'm finding it harder and harder to root for that woman.

The men on this show, actually, are the kinder, nicer people. Willows, along with "Sara" and "Sophie" are all kind of hard, come to think of it. Meanwhile, "Grisson," "Nick Stokes" and "Warrick Brown" all genuinely show concern and compassion in many cases - not the women of CSI.

Finally, kudos to Dayton Callie who is riveting as "Ernie Dell."
