Kir returns home from the war in Chechnya, missing a leg, but still alive. Kir had enlisted to earn enough money to marry Tatyana. This is the first film in which Andrey Chadov and his younger brother Aleksey Chadov appear together on the screen. Having previously directed Andrey in It's Russian (2004), director Aleksandr Veledinskiy chose to work with him again, casting him in the central role of Kir.
