Funny French comedy sponsored by WB.

Late nineteenth century, "Croûteux Inn" is a hostel in the middle of the mountains of the Pyrenees. The establishment is run by Martin and Rose, a partner who has the habit of asking his adopted son deaf, Violet, who murders lone travelers to steal their belongings. Until one stormy night, the father decides Carnus guide a teenager through the mountains to reach the monastery.

This is a version adapted and in 1951 with the same title by Claude Autant-Lara and Fernandel giving prominence to function as a priest. It's a classic vaudeville, written by Christian Clavier (Jean Reno 's squire in "The Visitor") and directed by professional French action film, Gerard Krawczyk

This farce funny, easygoing French comedy style but with the bombast of Warner Bros sponsored force you to keep seeing it. But what is surprising is that it is based on a true story happened in the first half of the nineteenth century, a marriage of innkeepers confessed, and subsequently sentenced to the guillotine, killing more than a hundred guests passing through seeking shelter in their isolated hostel. Years ago, that is over a century and a half later, the black legend confitó to such maturity that the ballads, folklore and Local anecdotes led to Krawcczyck variety show has been concerned with elaborate costumes and careful production design.

In addition to the undeniable presence duo Christian Clavier and Josiane Balasko as extremely awkward marriage, the film has another special pair of actors, Gerard and Jean-Baptiste Jugnot Maunier (both teacher and student were respectively in "The Chorus" Christophe Barratie) in the roles of priest and novice. The comic Cancelier Urbain (regular Jean- Pierre Jeunet in gems like "Delicatessen" and "Amelie") are also on the cast as a rickety Countess son immune to blink (Sylvie Joly).
