Storyline

Joan's trip to Portugal begins with a visit to Casa Do Paco D'Ilhas. She prepares a traditional Portuguese stew and marmalade with owners Miguel and Margarita Cuhna. Then, it's off to Sintra, a medieval village where Joan meets up with Fernando Cuhna, one of the owners of Piriquita Bakery. Famous for their cheese pies, this fifth-generation family-run business has been serving up tasty treats since 1862. Joan's next adventure takes us to the seaside village of Ericeira, where Mario Claro, one of the owners of Marisqueira Cesar, a popular seafood restaurant, accompanies her. Joan and Mario take to the sea, catch fresh lobsters, and return to the restaurant to learn how to make the Claro family's signature dish, shellfish rice. Written by Anonymous

What a great show!

Unfortunately, I missed the first couple episodes of this show and just caught the one on Spain last night. I watch very little TV, so for me to really love a show is unusual, but as soon as I saw Joan Cusack hosting a show like this, I had to watch and I was not disappointed! She's a perfect host... down to earth and engaging without giving off that overly-enthusiastic "touristy" vibe. She reacts to things and asks questions the way I feel like I would if I were there. The show is informative and interesting in a very new way. I think the premise: showing life and living through food and family around the world is perfect. This show is definitely on my DVR list now!
