Only fair.
This is the only episode of "Man Against Crime" I have ever seen, so I really cannot compare this one to the rest of the shows. I found it as part of a DVD collection "The Golden Age of TV Drama"--a five disc set of teleplays from the early days of television. "Joy Ride" is one of the few half hour shows in the set--most are hour-long.
Ralph Bellamy stars as Mike Barnett--the star of the series. He's approached by a woman who wants him to investigate her son's behaviors--as she's worried he and his friends are involved in criminal activities. So, Mike heads to the bar where the young man hangs out and offers him a chance to steal his car...and soon it disappears. An interesting way to test the guy, huh?!
I was not particularly impressed by this show. The acting seemed only fair and the script really seemed a bit silly and preachy. However, it was interesting to see the TV commercials included--lots of Camel Cigarette ads. Not a classic by any standard, but short and worth seeing if you get disc five, as the other two shows are pretty good.
